Phase 0 of the Fogo testnet is officially live, setting a new precedent for blockchain performance. Fogo is able to achieve exceptionally low latency and high throughput due to its innovative consensus design, colocated validator set, and Firedancer implementation—positioning the chain as the fastest SVM-based L1 to exist. By enabling institutional-grade finance onchain, Fogo aims to offer the best vertically integrated trading experience on the market.
During this initial phase of testnet release, the chain will be permissioned as we begin to work with a select group of elite developers and partners to lay the foundation of the Fogo ecosystem. As a purpose-built chain, Fogo is specifically designed for real-time trading experiences that close the gap on centralized finance. Fogo combines a curated validator set, native price feeds, an enshrined DEX, and colocated liquidity provider vaults to offer a new trading experience entirely.
Additionally, Fogo maintains decentralization and security through a distributed set of validators, but the nodes are colocated in different cities around the world that activate during peak trading hours in specific regions. If a certain set of nodes malfunction, consensus moves to maintain network resilience. In devnet, Fogo achieved 20ms block time and 45k TPS.

Fogo challenges that by leveraging the Firedancer open source client alongside an innovative multi-local consensus, and making other smart tradeoffs to optimize for performance and familiarity to the modern trading community.”
The testnet is not available to the public yet, allowing for rigorous building and testing in a controlled environment with select developers and institutions. This closed approach ensures that key performance benchmarks are hit prior to a broader rollout.
